Performances of 'A Christmas Carol' slated for Dec. 7-9 at Madison Park Church of God

ANDERSON, Ind. — Enjoy Indiana’s longest-running live musical production of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale, A Christmas Carol at Madison Park Church of God with performances Dec. 7-9 at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Community Hospital Anderson.

The production delights audiences of all ages with its original score and new surprises and twists added each year. The dazzling set recreates a quaint village setting and period costumes replicate London circa the early 1800s. The 100-plus member cast, crew and live orchestra bring to life the heart-warming tale of hope and cheer.

First published in 1843, Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” is considered by some to be one of the most influential works of literature ever written. It is a story filled with spiritual themes, helping the readers to see themselves as they gawk at Scrooge. Dickens contended that all his famous characters, from David Copperfield to Oliver Twist to Ebenezer Scrooge, were formed by the lens of the New Testament.

The general admission event is free.

An offering will be received to benefit Dove Harbor women’s shelter. Dove Harbor provides shelter and safety for women and women with children who want to change the way they live life and to make a positive future for their family. Dove Harbor offers a six- to 12-month program that provides families with a path out of unhealthy situations and growth toward an independent lifestyle.
