\DETROIT — Motown Records is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding with a gala event next month in Detroit.
Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley reports Saturday that the Nov. 21 event is expected to include performances by Stevie Wonder and The Temptations, and be hosted by comedian Sinbad.
Motown Records founder Berry Gordy is expected to attend.
Former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, co-chairman of the event, says "it's going to be an absolutely special night."
Proceeds benefit the Motown Historical Museum, which includes the original home of Motown Records in Detroit.
