ANDERSON — Highland’s Derrick Hill cleared 7 feet 1 inch for a new Indiana indoor track and field record at the Patriot Invitational at Anderson University on Saturday.
Among other highlights for the Scots: Sam Nunn was first in the 55-meter dash in a time of 5.58 seconds. Lawrence Cotton was second in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet 8. Jordan Segner was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet.
The 4x400 relay team of Hill, Jordan McCool, Nunn and George Rowlen finished in third place. The 4x200 was also in third place. Team members are Malcolm Wilkins, Nunn, Cotton and Isiah Johnson.
Qualifying for the Indoor State Championships at Purdue next Saturday are: Hill in the long jump and high jump. Cotton in the high jump and the 4x200 meter relay team. DJ Taylor in the 2-mile and distance medley with teammates McCool, Rowlen and Nunn.
