ANDERSON — Highland’s Kyle Johnson leads a quartet of athletes into today’s IHSAA swimming and diving state finals to be held at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Johnson will be joined by teammate Josh Doggett as well as Anderson’s Matthew Gray and Pendleton Heights’ Jacob Childress.
Johnson will compete in the trials in both the 200-yard freestyle, where he is seeded 10th and in the 100-yard butterfly, where he is seeded seventh. He set school records in both events in last weekend’s sectional.
Doggett is the first male diver in a dozen years to compete at this level for the Scots. His regional score of 366.15 is 23rd among the 32 divers.
The Indians’ Gray will compete in the 50-yard freestyle, where he is seeded 18th. The Arabians’ Jacob Childress is seeded 11th in the 100-yard backstroke.
