ANDERSON — Breakfast time in Anderson will be twice as sweet with a second Dunkin’ Donuts on the way.
HSG Restaurant Group has already begun work on a new Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant in the 3000 block of Scatterfield Road. On April 14, HSG announced plans for a 2,200-square-foot location, at the corner of 14th and Jackson streets in downtown Anderson.
“There will be two Dunkin’ Donuts in Anderson, both most likely before the end of the year and both owned and operated by HSG,” confirmed Dunkin’ Brands spokeswoman Carrie Reckert on Wednesday. Reckert said the downtown location would not be finished by mid-September, as originally announced.
Dennis Gramm, president and CEO of HSG Restaurant Group, said plans are to open 40 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Central Indiana. HSG opened its first location, at the corner of Washington and Pennsylvania streets in Indianapolis, on July 26. A second location in Bloomington opened on July 30.
The company plans to create an estimated 2,000 new jobs over the next five years. Reckert said Gramm served Dunkin’ Donuts for more than 10 years as a high-ranking executive.
“What’s interesting about Dennis is that he used to be an officer,” Reckert said. “He was a high-level officer who left to open a store, and he’s doing it pretty aggressively.”
Gramm has worked for more than 20 years in the restaurant industry. He was a Dunkin’ Brands vice president, responsible for franchise development, profitability and overall performance of 2,400 distribution points in the U.S., and before, a regional vice president in charge of operations and development of 1,800 Dunkin Donuts in the Northeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
Gramm’s colleagues in HSG are Craig Sanders, Jenny Palmer, Travis Feldman and Kristi Morley.
“There’s a high correlation between the activity level of a city and the success of a Dunkin’ Donuts,” Gramm said at the Bloomington opening. “The higher the energy, the greater the success.”
Founded in 1950, Dunkin’ Donuts is the No. 1 retailer of hot regular coffee-by-the cup in America, selling 2.7 million cups a day and nearly 1 billion cups a year. Based in Canton, Mass., the company has more than 7,900 restaurants in 31 countries worldwide.
“As we continue our aggressive expansion plans in existing and new markets, this new restaurant celebrates our brand’s 50-plus legacy and a bright future with a pledge to provide better service with better store layouts and technology,” said Will Kussell, Dunkin’ Donuts Brand President Worldwide.
