Letter: Government to blame for gas prices

Mr. Harrison, in his letter to the editor, said that oil companies are excessively greedy.

He should know that the biggest tax on gasoline and the one biggest reason for gasoline cost is the federal government, which does not one thing for that money.

The Fed doesn’t touch the oil, they don’t contribute to refining it, they don’t do a thing but tax it. Well, they do try to regulate and restrict the oil companies to death and have made sure that the American people remain dependent on foreign oil by not allowing the oil companies to drill for it on U.S land.

According to many experts’ accounts, America contains more oil than even Saudi Arabia in its offshore and other regions. The government does keep the American people oil-dependent on people who hate us; it does do that, but that’s about all.
