Letter: Incentive for profit at GM eliminated

Businesses operate for a variety of reasons; not the least of which is profit. Now that the Obama Administration and the UAW are the principal owners (funded by taxpayers) of GM (aka Gettlefinger Motors), the incentive to make a profit has been eliminated, resulting in a conflict of interest; as in what happens during the next labor contract negotiations? The long-term success of this coalition is doubtful. Mr. Gettlefinger should replace the late Walter Reuther as the all time icon of the UAW. He certainly did a masterful job. The millions of dollars in dues payer money invested in the election of Obama has paid off handsomely. Certainly has not paid off for Delphi and GM salaried workers and retirees who have lost their jobs and/or life and health insurance. The fate of salaried pensions is yet to be determined.
