Letter: FSSA punishes the honest

I have recently been laid off and had to file for assistance from the state Family and Social Services Administration.

I have been waiting over a month to find out something. Yesterday I called and was told I was denied. My husband is a disabled American veteran, and we are living only on his Social Security.

After 45 minutes on hold, they tell me that this is their fault, and I have to submit more information and wait longer for them to make their decision.

It does not hardly seem fair that we have to wait longer because of their mistake. I have called the congress and state reps to help. If anyone else is having problems, please call your state representative’s office, and they are willing to help you.

To me it should not have to be this way. If you need help and are honest, they punish you. There are so many people who take total advantage of the system, and I feel that is why we the honest get punished.
