Letter: City can’t afford 16 paid holidays

When the city and county keep asking for more money, how can this be?

When I read the recent story in The Herald Bulletin about the Anderson Board of Public Works contract and found buried in it three little lines about city employees getting 16 paid holidays and two personal days, I just about lost it, or thought, surely, this was a huge typo.

In these times, when the city and county keep asking for more money (i.e., county option income tax increase) how can this be? We, as residents of Madison County, have to continually adjust our budgets so government employees can continue living the good life. I used to think newspapers acted as “watch dog” and, sometimes, even did some investigative reporting. Don’t see much of that anymore.
