Letter: Veterans’ recognition was much appreciated

I’m writing this letter to say thank you to Applebee’s and their wonderful staff for the lunch provided on Veterans’s Day for all past and present men and women veterans who have had the privilege and honor to serve their country in both peace time and in its darkest hours.

I, for one, enjoyed looking around in any direction and being able to look into the eyes of veterans from World War WWII, the Korean War and the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I’m sure, for a lot of these veterans, this was the first time anyone may have shown any appreciation to them for their service.

As a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, and the father of a Marine who is currently serving and protecting our embassies around the world, I would like to thank you again. May we all never forget those who never made it home.
