Letter: Fire departments deserve all the kudos

Fire threatened unharvested crops, nearby homes

Thank you to all the fire departments in Madison County and surrounding areas for the excellent work they do for our community.

It was evident as they worked in collaboration to put out a large field fire on Saturday, Nov. 14, as it threatened many unharvested acres as well as nearby homes, that we have the best firefighters around and that we are well protected from devastating fires. Within a very short period of time after reports were made to the Chesterfield/Union Township Fire Department, there was a collaboration of at least eight fire departments on the scene.

Thank you to Salem Township, Pipe Creek Township, Lapel, Frankton, Richland Township, Adams Township and Alexandria Fire Departments for assisting Chesterfield in containing the fire. Not only do our firemen have excellent skills, they are caring individuals as well. This is evident in their responses to the citizens they serve before, during, and after fires. The provision of the Fire Rescue House by another collaborative effort led by Skip Ockomon and the Anderson Fire Department provides much evidence to that fact. Thank you, fire departments, for being a wonderful asset for Madison County and a job well done.
