On Jan. 29, two gas canisters were thrown through the windows of Mr. James Harris’ home while he and his very small grandchildren were watching television. This is a true-crime, stupid and dangerous police tactics.
Anderson deserves and needs a police force, not a goon squad. I have several friends in Anderson, and I can see myself and wife at these homes and having gas canisters thrown through the windows. The door busted down, thrown on the floor, gun up to my head and watch Anderson’s finest SWAT team tear up their home. Then after finding nothing, the SWAT team say they had it all wrong, all you hear is “SORRY,” we got it wrong, and leave with everything torn up.
The main problem I have with these SWAT teams, they are trained as paramilitary war units. Full body armor, Kevlar helmets, face masks so you can’t identify them, storm trooper boots, full automatic weapons, snipers and chemical gas. Our troops at war don’t use chemical gas. It’s against the rules of war. It’s all right in Anderson.
Don’t knock or use a loud speaker, you just “gas” them, beat down the door, throw everyone on the floor, then you ask questions. This must be the Anderson SWAT team motto. I’m glad it’s not kill them all and let God sort out the good ones.
The men who are responsible for the last two chemical gassings need to be fired and the SWAT team (Anderson Police Department) needs to pay for the repair of the houses they have damaged, the anguish they caused their victims plus punitive damages. Maybe if they received some pain like they like to dish out maybe they won’t be so quick to smash, crash and gas.

Letter: Consumer-driven economy will pay off debt
To save America some money — by acclimation of course — let’s not have a presidential election in 2012. We already have a good president who will do his best to kill all Republican bills (DOA) and, consequently, create more good-paying jobs in the $30 per hour range.

Letter: Gingrich cashes in on political amnesia
Rasmussen says that Romney has flattened nationally. Why?
Two reasons seem to tell the tale. Gingrich has shown that he will fight, and Romney is a Mormon, believed to be a “cult” by a majority of evangelicals. -
Letter: Hiring Winkler not wise spending
As a taxpayer I want to know that my taxes are being spent wisely. Hiring Greg Winkler at a salary of $126,000 is not wise spending.

Letter: Bill of Rights being nullified by new law
President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act on New Year’s Eve. I doubt many Americans noticed its implications because they do not yet comprehend the big picture. This law, coupled with the Patriot Act, is paving the way for America’s direction toward tyranny.

Letter: Economy putting people in the gutters
We are now getting the results of putting people in the gutters. We need to take a second look at our government and its policies. It’s not working.

Letter: Blame the voters for our Congress
Why is insider trading legal for Congress and illegal for the rest of us? They make and enact laws for all of us, but then exempt members of Congress. Somehow this doesn’t seem to pass the smell test.

Anderson is a city of negative publicity and actions. Why else is Sears leaving? Can we stand four years of vindictive actions and negative reporting?
