ANDERSON, Ind. —
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who battered a woman trying to assist him on Tuesday, said Sheriff Ron Richardson.
The woman called detectives at 1:43 p.m. and said she had been assaulted by a man in the 1600 block of East County Road 400 North, Richardson said.
The man’s truck was parked on the side of the road when the woman stopped to try to assist the apparently stranded or injured driver, Richardson said. The man attacked her without explanation when she got close, then returned to the truck and drove off.
The woman returned home to call police, and an ambulance was called to her home. Her condition was unknown Tuesday night, Richardson said.
Police were looking for a while male for questioning, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The truck was an older, black pickup with a white bumper.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Brett Wright at the Madison County Sheriff’s Department at 646-4017, or dispatch at 642-0221.
