Frankton-Lapel board meets Thursday
FRANKTON — The Frankton-Lapel Community Schools board will meet Thursday night to consider cost-reduction proposals that include possible reduction or elimination of vocational programs and energy conservation.
The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Frankton Elementary School, 1303 E. Indiana 128.
Dance marathon to be held
ANDERSON — The Youth Leadership of Madison County is hosting a dance marathon to help the children and youth in Madison County.
The event will take place Friday, March 19, at 8 p.m. and run until 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, at the Millcreek Civic Center in Chesterfield.
Those choosing not to spend the night will pay $8 at the door. Overnight will be $12.
There will be plenty of events and food throughout the night for everyone. Those planning to spend the night will need to have signed permission slips that can be found at www.anderson.edu/lamc.

Mass transit seminar scheduled
ANDERSON — The League of Women Voters and The Herald Bulletin will host a spring informational program about mass transit for central Indiana.
The program will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Anderson Public Library.
Speakers will be Jim Haberek, long range planner for the city of Anderson, and Jim Young, instructor at Ball State University.
Pence pages wanted
WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Mike Pence has announced that Hoosier students can apply through his office to become a page in the U.S. House of Representatives for the Summer 2010 Page First Session.
To be qualified to serve as a page, all applicants must:
* Be at least 16 years of age
* Be in the 11th grade
* Have a cumulative GPA of B or better
* Have health insurance
The 2010 Summer Page first session runs from June 6 through July 2. Pence is able to nominate one student from all applications received.

Eastern Kentucky professor conducts Wigwam survey
Interest in the 9,000-seat Wigwam has spread a lot farther than here in Anderson. A professor of economics at Eastern Kentucky University sent out 800 surveys about the historic gymnasium in November.
