ANDERSON, Ind. —
CSX has no plans to increase the speed of its trains through Anderson, a CSX spokeswoman said on Thursday.
That’s a sharp contrast to what might occur in Muncie, where city officials learned earlier this week that the long-haul freight carrier planned to double the speed of trains through town from 30 mph to 60 mph.
The Star-Press reported on Tuesday that CSX plans to double the speed of its trains beginning on Jan. 1.
The current speed limit through Muncie is 40 mph, and Mayor Dennis Tyler vowed the city would fight the change.
Anderson’s municipal speed limit for trains is 30 mph.
