ANDERSON, Ind. —
A woman attempting to make methamphetamine Friday morning was forced to toss an exploding bottle out of a bedroom window, prompting a neighbor to call 911, according to a probable cause affidavit from Anderson police.
Lacee G. Christ, 27, of Anderson, was arrested at a relative’s home in the 800 block of West 53rd Street at 2:50 a.m. Friday, according to police reports. Christ’s cousin, Jesse Paschal, and his girlfriend, Tanya Morphew, were also living at the residence, police said.
Authorities responded to a call from neighbors that an explosion was heard in the area at 2 a.m. Police determined there was an attempt to manufacture meth after investigating the home and questioning four people living there, according to charging documents.
The relative allowed police to search the residence and said she knew Christ had a drug addiction and had recently left a rehabilitation center in Chicago, according to the affidavit.
Police learned from Paschal and Morphew that the two assisted Christ in gathering and purchasing materials needed to make meth and were planning to share in the finished product. The explosion was the result of a botched attempt, according to police reports.
Paschal and Morphew made Christ stay until police arrived for fear they would be blamed, according to the document. It was unclear Saturday night why Paschal and Morphew weren’t charged but Anderson public information officer Joel Sandefur said the case is still under investigation.
Manufacturing meth is a Class B felony and carries a sentence of six to 20 years and fines of up to $10,000.
