LAPEL, Ind. —
A Madison County resident was killed in a single-car crash near the Madison-Hamilton county line early Monday morning.
Barbara E. Barras, 44, died about 4:20 a.m. when her white 1997 Ford Taurus struck a steel pole near the intersection of Indiana 13 and Eighth Street Road where it becomes Strawtown Avenue in Hamilton County, according to Capt. Dennis Quakenbush of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department. She was an independent contractor who delivered The Herald Bulletin and other related products. It was initially reported that Barras was a Noblesville resident but a local funeral director said that she lived in Anderson.
Quakenbush said Barras was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
