Woman seriously injured in crash near Pendleton

PENDLETON, Ind. —

A woman was flown by medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital Friday night after she was seriously injured in a crash near Pendleton, authorities said.

Pendleton Fire Chief Danny Gardner said a woman was driving on County Road 50 West south of U.S. 36 when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree shortly before 8 p.m. She was ejected from the vehicle, Gardner said.

Gardner said the woman, whose name could not immediately be confirmed, was in serious condition. She was transported by a PHI Air Medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital shortly before 8:30 p.m., Gardner said.

Authorities restricted traffic in the area on Friday night as Indiana State Police investigated. No further details were available.
