Alleged drunken driver returns to scene
ANDERSON — A suspected drunken driver that sideswiped a car returned to the scene after almost running over someone to get away, according to a police report.
The report said Kenneth Harris Jr., 41, hit a parked car in the 2000 block of Pearl Street on Monday. As witnesses who were just about to get out of the parked Yukon tried to stop Harris, he “drove recklessly around” who stood in front of his Jeep to block his path, the report said. Harris returned while the officer was at the scene, according to the report.
With a blood alcohol level of 0.16 percent, Harris was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to stop after an accident and public intoxication.
Police: Man says drugs are brother’s
ANDERSON — After Anderson police located drugs in a man’s house, he insisted they were his brother’s, according to a police report.
The report said officers asked Ronald Richards, 42, to search his Arbor Village apartment Monday after receiving a tip of drug activity. During the search, officers located about 29 grams of cocaine and a small digital scale in a black jacket in the closet, the report said. “The suspect advised the officers that the jacket belonged to his brother,” the report said. Richards also told officers that a plastic bag with marijuana in it also belonged to his brother, the report said.
Richards was arrested for possession of cocaine weighing in excess of 3 grams inside a family housing complex, and maintaining a common nuisance.
Man attempts to steal copper, loader
ANDERSON — An Anderson man was caught in the mud and by approaching police sirens Monday when he attempted to steal copper from a building materials supplier, according to a police report.
The report said Anderson police officers found David Sisk, 29, hiding in a wooded area near Irving Materials, Inc. in the 5000 block of Indiana 67 with a pair of bolt cutters lying next to him.
According to the report, Sisk had loaded at least $2,000 worth of copper wire into the front of a skid loader – a small equipment vehicle with a scoop on the front. Sisk, the report said, told officers that the loader got stuck in the mud and he fled when he saw police.
Sisk was arrested for theft and trespassing.
