Motorist confirmed dead in single-vehicle accident

ANDERSON — A motorist is dead after a Wednesday morning car accident near Exit 22 along Interstate 69.

Anderson Police Department Detective Mitch Carroll confirmed the death in the single-vehicle accident, which occurred along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just south of the exit at 9:13 a.m.

“According to witness accounts, the vehicle struck a pole and the car flipped,” Carroll said. “The driver, alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

By 10 a.m., authorities had covered the Chevrolet Malibu sedan with a green tarp.

The ramp leading to northbound Interstate 69 has been temporarily closed.
