Two men were rescued from White River after their kayak capsized on Sunday in Hamilton County one mile north of Strawtown, according to a press release from the Indiana State Police.
Jonathan M. Chilson, 22, Brownsburg, and Aaron J. Hickey, 31, Indianapolis, were stranded on a sandbar in the middle of White River when ISP scuba divers arrived at the scene. According to the press release, the two men were not sure of their location because darkness had set in. They were also unsure of the depth of the water. One of the men had called 911 with a cell phone, read the press release.
ISP diver Chris Lambert made his way to the sandbar and escorted the two men to an ambulance. They were suffering from mild hypothermia, according to the press release.
Lambert was assisted by the Noblesville Fire Department, Cicero Fire Department, Hamilton County Sheriff's Department and other ISP officers.
