10:48 p.m.: Floods hit SW Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Heavy rain has caused widespread flooding in parts of southwest Indiana.

The National Weather Service says Fort Branch, in Gibson County, was among the hardest hit, receiving 4.4 inches of rain during the day Tuesday.

Police dispatchers in Gibson and Posey counties say several roads are impassable due to flooding.

Some roads in Mount Vernon, about 20 miles west of Evansville, are reported to have as much as a foot of standing water.
