Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton

• Born Oct. 26, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Hugh and Dorothy Rodham. She has two younger brothers, Hugh and Tony.

• Graduated from Wellesley College in 1969, then enrolled in Yale Law School, where she met fellow law student Bill Clinton.

• Married Bill Clinton in 1975, and the couple’s daughter, Chelsea, was born in 1980.

• In 1978, Bill Clinton became the governor of Arkansas, which began Hillary’s 12-year stint as the state’s first lady.

• Served as the nation’s first lady from 1992 to 2000.

• Elected United States senator from New York on Nov. 7, 2000, first first lady elected to the United States Senate and the first woman elected statewide in New York.
