7:20 a.m.: Section of Indiana 32 to be rebuilt

The Herald Bulletin

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to rebuild a section of Indiana 32 near Yorktown, according to the (Muncie) Star Press.

INDOT recently revamped plans to rebuild Indiana 32 between Nebo Road (County Road 400 West) and Tiger Drive, expanding the roadway to four lanes, instead of the original five.

In a November 2006 public hearing, Yorktown residents told INDOT that they opposed a freeway-style reconstruction of the roadway.

The four-lane plan includes an elevated median, with crossing available at Pilgrim Drive, Sarasota Drive and one between the two roads. INDOT expects to release bids early next year and the project should take two years to complete.
