INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis police officer has been arrested on charges that he sold a handgun to a known felon.
Authorities say 32-year-old Jason Barber, an eight-year veteran of the force, was arrested Friday at his home. Besides the gun charge, he also faces another felony charge of official misconduct.
Barber had been working with the department’s narcotics branch in the dangerous drug section. Police say his arrest is not related to the indictments of two other officers in that unit on federal drug charges this month, although the two investigations were parallel.
Barber was being held in Marion County Jail on $100,000 bond Friday night. It was not immediately known whether Barber had an attorney.
