ANDERSON — Two men filed a petition of nomination with the state to run against Republican Mitch Daniels and Democrat Jill Long Thompson in the governor’s race in November.
John Waterman, of the Taxpayer’s Party, and Stephen Bonney, who listed no party, both filed petitions with the Madison County Voters Registration for verification of petition signatures on Monday, which was the deadline for independents and minor parties to file.
Monday was also the deadline for Democrats and Republicans to fill a vacancy on the general election ballot because of a primary ballot vacancy, Mary Retherford, elections director said.
Frank Burrows, former Anderson police chief, will run on the Republican ticket against Democratic incumbent Terri Austin for the state representative position of the 37th District. Libertarian Greg Noland also filed to run for the position, Retherford said in previous interviews.
Burrows and Noland were unavailable Monday for comment.
