PORTLAND — Highland High School finished in first place Thursday night during the Jay County Lions Band Contest at the Jay County fairgrounds.
It was the second win in a row for the band, which also emerged victorious from the Delaware County Fair band contest on July 17.
Muncie South was second, followed by Northeastern of Fountain City, Jay County and Hagerstown.
Among local schools participating, Anderson High School was ninth out of 18 bands, with Pendleton Heights 12th, Lapel 13th and Frankton 14th.
Highland will appear tonight in Muncie at the Spirit of Sound show sponsored by Muncie South High School and held at Muncie Central High School.
The next stop for the band will be the Indiana State Fair contest, which is set for Aug. 6 in Indianapolis.
