BOONE TOWNSHIP — A Summitville motorcyclist was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after being struck by a car early Tuesday morning near the Grant County line.

Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said Charles Hasty, 59, Summitville, suffered injuries to both of his legs in the accident.

Hasty was traveling north on County Road 300 West on a 2008 Harley-Davidson around 4:39 a.m. when he was struck by a 1997 Dodge Neon operated by Ricky Gerstorff, 43, Summitville. Gerstorff was westbound on County Road 1850 North at the time and, Richardson said, appeared to be at fault.

“(Gerstorff) was cited for disregarding a stop sign,” Richardson said. “Neither driver appeared to be impaired, and the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet.”

Richardson said Gerstorff refused treatment at the scene for minor facial injuries, including a bloody lip and nose.
