ANDERSON — Anderson Police Department Officer Lincoln Brooks is serving a suspension related to a provocation incident in April.
APD Det. Mitch Carroll, public information officer, confirmed Friday that Brooks’ suspension had begun in accordance with the Anderson Board of Public Safety.
“The discipline started on Oct. 6 and will end on Nov. 14,” Carroll said.
On Sept. 19, Brooks, 43, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and provocation and given a 180-day suspended jail sentence.
Prosecutors charged Brooks on July 14 after he tried to goad an Anderson resident into a fight on April 7. The incident occurred outside the man’s Home Avenue residence.
Brooks’ case was on the agenda for the Oct. 1 meeting of the Board of Public Safety, but no action was taken. Instead, Brooks’ attorney, Bryan Williams of Anderson, was working to reach an agreement with the board on disciplinary action.
Brooks had been assigned to desk duty.
