ANDERSON — Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development commissioner stopped in Anderson Thursday to meet with local WorkOne clients and employees, and said a federal report that noted 41 compliance issues with the state system was not as bad as it looked.
“This is just a standard review,” said Commissioner Teresa Voors. “They see it as some tweaks we need in our policy.”
The federal review, conducted in late 2007, noted that some wait times in Indiana unemployment offices were unsatisfactory. Voors said a new “triage” policy was instituted at WorkOne offices last year to help ease wait times.
Now, when clients walk in, an employee asks them what their specific needs are and sends them to the right counter.
The average wait time at the Anderson WorkOne office is 15 minutes, according to officials at the local office.
