ALEXANDRIA — All of Madison County’s General Motors dealerships are safe from the cuts GM is making as it tries to maintain its viability.
GM sent letters on Friday to all the dealerships it planned to close, estimated at 42 percent of dealers. None of the five local GM dealerships, including two in Anderson and one each in Elwood, Alexandria and Daleville, received letters.
Angela Joslin, office manager at DeVoe Chevrolet in Alexandria, said her dealership was celebrating Friday after both the FedEx and UPS delivery trucks came, neither one bearing a letter of closure.
“Business is good, service is great,” Joslin said.
Dealerships around the country that were being closed were to receive letters on Friday informing them of GM’s plans.
Todd Castor, general manager of Sam Pierce Chevrolet in Daleville, said most of the dealers in east central Indiana were expected to make it through this round of cuts.
“I perceive most of the dealerships in this area are good because this area is saturated with quite a few good sales,” he said.
