INDIANAPOLIS — An Anderson man was injured Monday morning when the Prairie Farms milk truck he was driving tipped over as it prepared to enter the interstate.
Farrell Carraco was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital with what Anderson-based Prairie Farms Sales Manager Mike Wren called “slight” injuries, including a broken nose and cuts that required stitches.
Carraco had been making local deliveries in Indianapolis for the dairy producer when the accident happened, Wren said.
“It was the first time on that route for him,” he said. “He wasn’t familiar with the exit ramp that he was taking.”
Wren said that ramp had a sharp turn and dip that probably caused Carraco’s load to shift.
Carraco’s truck ended up on its side in the median about 8:20 a.m. as he was taking the ramp from McCarty Street to Interstate 70 in downtown Indianapolis. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Sgt. Paul Thompson said Carraco became entrapped after the accident.
Wren said the truck probably had about 16 skids of milk products, some of which spilled onto the road, along with some of the truck’s fuel, and caused authorities to shut down the ramp.
Carraco is a longtime employee with Prairie Farms and is a good employee, Wren said.
“We expect him to be released and back to work in a couple days,” he said. “Our main concern is our driver and how things came out there. Luckily, no one else was injured.”
