due Tuesday
ANDERSON — The 2008 pay 2009 property taxes are due Tuesday, Nov. 10, for the full year. Payments may be made in person or mail to: 16E Ninth St., Suite 109, Anderson, IN 46016. Mail must be postmarked by Tuesday to avoid a penalty.
Payments may also be made at the following banks: Ameriana, Community, First Farmers, First Merchants, Huntington, MainSource, National City and Star Financial.

clinic canceled
ANDERSON — The flu shot clinic scheduled for Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church, 432 W. 300N, Anderson, has been canceled due to shortage of the vaccine.
VFW to host veterans program
ANDERSON — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., Anderson, will host a program for all veterans on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Main speaker will be Don McAllister.
This event is open to the public.
Lambert award
to be given Nov. 16
ANDERSON — The annual Homeless Task Force luncheon honoring a member of the community with the Lloyd Lambert Award will be held on a new date and in a new location. Kicking off Homeless Awareness Week, the luncheon will be held on Monday, Nov. 1, at noon in The Christian Center’s dining room at 625 Main St., Anderson.
The public is invited to attend.
Style show and luncheon on Dec. 1

Soil conservation board to meet
INDIANAPOLIS — The State Soil Conservation Board will meet on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Indiana Natural Resources Conservation Service, 6013 Lakeside Blvd., Indianapolis.
The State Soil Conservation Board provides guidance and coordination to the state’s 92 Soil and Water Conservation Districts as they provide local leadership in the protection of Indiana’s soil and water resources.
Three Muncie men get prison terms for cross-burning
INDIANAPOLIS — Three central Indiana men have been sentenced to federal prison after they pleaded guilty to burning a cross in the yard of a black family’s home in 2008.
Forty-one-year-old Richard LaShure was sentenced to 15 months in prison and two years probation Thursday in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis.
His son, 20-year-old Richard Logue, was sentenced to one year in prison and two years probation. A third man, 20-year-old Aaron Latham, was sentenced to one year in prison and three years probation.
