The Herald Bulletin

FORTVILLE, Ind. — Indiana 13 will close near Fortville on Monday as crews begin work on a Major Moves Project along the roadway, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

INDOT's official detour will guide motorists along Indiana 67 through Pendleton and onto Interstate 69, before returning them to Indiana 13.

The project will extend from Indiana 67 to the city's northern limits at the Madison County line. Lanes will be widened to 12 feet, paved shoulders added and new storm sewer lines will be added as part of the $5 million project. The large culvert at Stottlemyre Ditch will also be replaced, new water lines will be added from Michigan Avenue north to the county line, and ADA-approved sidewalks with curbs, gutters and underdrains will be installed.

Furthermore, the grade at the CSX railroad crossing will be moderated, and Indiana 13 will be widened between Alden and Brook drives to accomodate a turn lane.

Residential traffic and access to businesses will be maintained.
