ANDERSON, Ind. — Joshua’s vision at Frankton UMC

FRANKTON —  The group, Joshua’s Vision will be featured at Frankton First United Methodist Church at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The group consists of Andrea Hughes, Bryan Hughes, and Coy Hutcherson of Alexandria.

They have performed with Gaither music friends Woody Wright and Stephen Hill as part of Woody and Friends and with such notables as Jim Hill and the Blackwood Quartet. In 2009, they were personally invited by Gloria Gaither to be a part of the Gaither Fall Festival.



East Lynn has cookout, hymn sing

ANDERSON — A pitch-in cook-out and hymn sing will be held on the fifth Sunday, at East Lynn Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 522 E. 53rd St..

Supper will be served at 5 p.m. with meat and drinks provided, bring a salad or dessert. At 6 p.m. a hymn sing will be held in the sanctuary, led by the Rev. Susan M. Cameron and accompanied by Dawn Elston and Bob Claypool.

The public is invited to share in the fellowship.

 

Celebration Church welcomes pastor

ANDERSON — Celebration Church at Arrow Heights, 1120 Arrow Ave., plans a series of special events from Sept. 2-5 to celebrate its new pastor, Mike Thigpen and First Lady Melanie Thigpen.

Installation events include:

  • Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. — Guest artist Alanna Story with guest speakers Kevin and First Lady Tatum Osbourne of Refuge Church of God, Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Celebration at IHOP: Ten percent of your bill will go to the church’s outreach programs. Flyers and coupons will be available at the events.
  • Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. — Guest artist Damon Golden with guest speaker Rev. Dr. Diana Swoops of Arlington Church of God, Akron, Ohio.
  • Sept. 4 at noon — Installation service with special musical guest Celebration Church Praise Team of Columbia, Md. From 3 to 6 p.m. free food, games and rides are planned at Discover Church, 2205 Park Road. From 7 to 10 p.m. a free city-wide concert in the park at the Anderson Town Center with local and national artists.
  • Sept. 5 at 10 a.m.  — Worship service with guest speaker Dr. Kevin W. Earley.
  • Bowling event — Coopers Sports Bowl, 1920 E. 53rd St.
  • Worship and recognition service for Rev. Robert Terry, pastor emeritus. Guest speaker Pastor Stephen Terry of New Life Church of God, Fort Wayne.



Men of Integrity Annual Day

ANDERSON — Mount Pilgrim Church, 615 Henry St., will celebrate Men of Integrity Annual Day on Sunday.

Worship service festivities begin with: church school at 9:30 a.m.; donuts, coffee and juice, 10:30 a.m.; and morning worship, 11 a.m.

Dr. Thomas J. Robinson, pastor of the church, will be the morning speaker. Special music will be provided by the Angels of Glory of Mount Pilgrim. Dinner will be served in the church’s fellowship hall immediately after the morning worship.

Special guests for the afternoon celebration beginning at 3 p.m. will be the Rev. W.C. Edwards, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Muncie, and his congregation.

The public is invited to attend.



New Bethel open house Sunday

ANDERSON — New Bethel United Methodist Church, 38th Street and Layton Road, will celebrate the reconstruction of its educational unit and fellowship hall from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The church was damaged during a June 24, 2009, accident that resulted in extensive fire damage to the building.

There will be an inflatable moonwalk as well as kids crafts, snacks and musical entertainment.

Rev. William Garver is pastor of the church.



Nelons to be in concert Sept. 3

ANDERSON — Southdale Church of the Nazarene, 530 W. 53rd St., will present in concert The Nelons at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3. A love offering will be taken.  



Youth Sunday at Cross Roads

ANDERSON — Sunday is Youth Sunday at Cross Roads United Methodist Church, 2000 N. Scatterfield Road. They will be presenting a drama and singing. Youth Director Mandy Hackney will deliver the message about her trip to Zambia. It is also promotion Sunday for children and youth.



New Life holds Sunday service

ANDERSON — New Life Deliverance Temple, 5019 Columbus Ave, will be host to a 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon service.

The guest speaker will be Pastor James H. Walker and the congregation of New Liberty Non Denominational Church of Indianapolis.

The public is invited to attend. Overseer Veola Jordan is the host pastor.



New Jerusalem  plans park service

ANDERSON — New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church will have its Sunday morning service in Jackson Park. The church will hold a picnic following the service. All are welcome.
