Track replacement begins in city
ANDERSON — CSX will be replacing railroad track crossings beginning Wednesday at 67th Street at Martin Luther King Boulevard. Work will continue through Friday, according to a press release from the City Engineering Department.
Roosevelt-Kennedy meeting Wednesday
ANDERSON — The Roosevelt-Kennedy Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison County Democrat Headquarters, 18 W. Eighth St.
There will be a speaker and refreshments will be served, according to a press release.
Pendleton FD to host storm training
PENDLETON — Pendleton Fire Department will hold the annual Stormnet/Skywarn training at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
David Tucek of the Indianapolis office of the National Weather Service will speak and show videos of tornadoes and other storms with an emphasis on observation and reporting.
The Madison County Emergency Management Agency will also be on hand to review procedures.
Pizza delivery driver reports robbery
ANDERSON — A pizza delivery driver told Anderson police he was robbed Sunday night while making a delivery southwest of downtown.
Anderson Police Department Detective Mitch Carroll, public information officer, said Pizza Hut driver Thomas Carter was robbed around 10:45 p.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Dewey Street.
Police arrived within minutes and attempted to locate one or more suspects using a K-9 unit.
Police: Wrong-way bicyclist hit by car
ANDERSON — A bicyclist who police said was riding the wrong way down a one-way street was hit by a car and hospitalized Monday afternoon.
Mark Dove, 45, of Anderson, was in stable condition Monday night at Saint John’s Medical Center. A nursing supervisor said he would be released.
Anderson police Sgt. William Casey said officers were called to the scene of a crash on Brown-Delaware Thoroughfare at 10th Street at 5:19 p.m., where a car driven southbound by Jason Binnion, 40, of Anderson, collided with Dove as he rode a bicycle against traffic.
Casey said Dove was injured when his face hit the pavement, but Dove attempted to walk away from the crash and refuse medical treatment. Casey said Dove was located a short distance away after police followed a trail of blood.
State to hold weather preparedness events
INDIANAPOLIS — The return of warm weather means state officials are making their annual plea for Indiana residents to ready themselves for the possibility of severe weather.
Gov. Mitch Daniels has proclaimed March 14 through 20 as Severe Weather Preparedness Week.
Anderson’s sirens will be tested Wednesday around 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Iraq veteran displaced after apartment fire
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames at Courtyard Apartments, 2725 W. 16th St., but the damage had been done. With the exception of the sweatpants and sweatshirt he slept in, Brandon Wilson lost everything.
