Donahues earn entrepreneur award

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Donahues take the term ‘family business’ to heart.

Maybe that’s the secret to their success.

Brian Donahue, the majority owner in Donahue Gas, a company founded by his grandfather in 1938, will accept the Madison County Chamber of Commerce’s 12th annual Entrepreneur Award today on behalf of his family business. The ceremony will be at noon at the Anderson Country Club.

Donahue helms the business, which has locations in Anderson and Muncie, with his brother and father.

He said the business’ success is largely due to its values, like its commitment to service, community and family.

“This (the award) really should go to the Donahue family,” said Donahue, 47, of Alexandria. “I’m just here to receive it.”

Kyle Morey, president of the Chamber, said the award is to honor business owners “who have demonstrated a true partnership with Madison County both within and outside their organization. Award recipients offer a positive role model for future entrepreneurs. Recipients are selected by both board members of the Madison County Chamber and the Madison County Community Foundation. Brian Donahue exemplifies these qualities in his work in and around the county and community as a servant leader.”
