ANDERSON, Ind. —
An Anderson man was fatally stabbed Sunday after an altercation with another man.
According to Anderson police Sgt. Bill Casey, Willie Rump, 23, of Anderson, died in surgery at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after being transported via ambulance from Saint John’s Medical Center in Anderson.
Casey said Rump had suffered multiple stab wounds to his right side and drove himself to Saint John’s, where an off-duty police officer working security found him outside the emergency room covered in blood around 4:50 p.m.
Rump gave police enough information for them to search for a suspect in the 1600 block of Lincoln Street, where police found blood along the sidewalk leading up onto the front porch of a house in the block, Casey said.
No arrest had yet been made late Sunday night.
Casey said police cleared the home and were looking for Adam Layne, 26, who is considered a person of interest in the case. Layne is believed to be living in the Lincoln Street house.
Casey described Layne as a white, bald-headed male with sleeve tattoos and tattoos for eyebrows.
Anyone with information as to Layne’s location can call the Anderson Police dispatch number at 648-6775.
