NAACP holds meeting Sunday
ANDERSON —The Madison County Branch of the NAACP will have a general membership meeting Sunday at 3 p.m. at the local office, 1015 W. 15th St.
President James Burgess will give a report and listen to community concerns.
GED prep class to be held Sept. 11
ANDERSON — First United Methodist Church at 12th and Jackson streets will be offering an Adult GED preparation class beginning Saturday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The eight-week series of classes is targeted to adults 25 years and older. A variety of teaching methods will be used to help individuals prepare for the exam.
The classes are funded by a grant from the Madison County Foundation, so there is no charge for the participants. All materials required will also be supplied at no charge.
Interested individuals may call the church office at 643-6977 during business hours to make a reservation.
SmallTown Garden Club to meet
ALEXANDRIA — The SmallTown Garden Club meeting will be held at the Alexandria Community Center, 315 S. Harrison St., at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, because of Labor Day Monday. The program this month will be presented by Sandy Burrell of “Northern Tropics” from Muncie. Her topic will be “Tropicals and Unusuals, Having Your Way with Them.”
