Toyota adding 400 jobs

PRINCETON — Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Inc. plans to invest $131 million and create up to 400 jobs at its Princeton plant by 2013.

The company intends to consolidate manufacturing of the hybrid and export versions of the Highlander midsize SUV at the facility. Production is expected to begin late next year. Toyota says annual Highlander output at the plant is expected to increase by 50,000 vehicles. The expansion is part of an overall $400 million investment by the automaker.

LAFAYETTE — The president of Greater Lafayette Commerce says the region has hundreds of jobs available, and hopes a new Advancing Manufacturing program will help fill them.

Joe Seaman says the campaign is a 12 county partnership aimed at helping job-seekers find openings, training and scholarships. Seaman says the Advancing Manufacturing website features five companies with about 300 job openings.
