ANDERSON, Ind. —
A retirement party for William Stafford Anderson, M.D., will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Community Hospital, Anderson, Conference Rooms 6 and 7.
Dr. Anderson arrived in Anderson 40 years ago this month. A native of Beaver, Pa., he graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Duke University and served with the U.S. Navy. He graduated from George Washington University Medical School and completed a family medicine residency in Harrisburg, Pa., before settling in Cain, Pa.
There he met and married his wife, Beatrice. The couple served on the mission field in Kenya for three years. It was upon their return from Africa that they moved to Anderson and raised their four children. They also have seven grandchildren.
In these years, he has served as a medical staff officer at both Saint John’s Medical Center and Community Hospital. He has been a member of the Anderson Board of Public Safety and the Police Merit Commission. And since 1983, he has led an ongoing Sunday school/Bible study.
