Commission to discuss township cemeteries

The Madison County Cemetery Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Public Library, third floor.

Among the cemeteries to be discussed are the Pickard Cemetery, Monroe Township; the Hardy-Culp Cemetery, Fall Creek Township; and the Busby Cemetery, Fall Creek Township. 

The public is invited to attend.



Alexandria Chamber to give progress report

Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s quarterly luncheon will be at noon Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Community development progress and Chamber services are included in information to be shared. All Chamber members, businesses owners and Alexandria residents are encouraged to attend. 

Cost is $6 and can be paid at the door.



Health Center to host Backyard Barbecue

The Madison County Community Health Centers will host its fifth annual Backyard Barbecue from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

This year’s event is a pre-activity to the National Health Center Week celebration. There will be face painting for the children, Anderson Fire Department will provide a ladder climb for the kids, Indiana State Police will have its Kid’s Kit and the police department will bring its traditional auto safety program.

The three managed-care organizations (MDWise, Anthem and MHS along with Care Select and HIP) will have giveaways. Bethesda Baptist Church will feature the Steppers, along with the Boys & Girls Club and the Girl Scouts. Old National Bank will give away several Saving Bonds. Charles Williams Black Expo Mobile Prostate vehicle will be present for free physicals, body fat analysis, etc.

Rodney Chamberlain will provide the disc jockey, and the Jackman Family will bring music. There will be tours of the building including the newly opened Baby Store and Annex Buildings.

Food will be available at no charge including turkey, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and a whole roasted hog.
