Anderson Friends of NRA banquet Aug. 28

The Anderson Friends of NRA will have its annual fundraising banquet and auction at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Paramount Theatre Centre Ballroom, 1124 Meridian Plaza.

Don Cook, chairman, said the event proceeds benefit the NRA Foundation projects, including youth and women’s firearms safety and education programs, range development and wildlife conservation efforts. Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club, Alexandria Gun Club, Farmland Conservation Club and Anderson High School JNROTC Program have received over $60,000 in the past five years for various projects, Cook said.

Dinner tickets are $35 and can be purchased in advance at the Paramount Theatre box office, McIntyre Jewelry, Crackshot Guns or by calling Cook at (765) 779-4042.



Sorority’s bingo event to benefit Gateway

Delta Theta Tau Sorority is planning its seventh annual Longaberger Basket and Vera Bradley Bingo Benefit. The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the Alexandria-Monroe High School cafeteria. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 6:30 p.m.

Prizes include Longaberger baskets, pottery accessories and Vera Bradley bags. Raffle tickets will be sold for additional prizes. Tickets are on sale for a $12 donation. Organizers said that all proceeds will benefit Gateway Association Child Development Center, for furthering the education of children with special needs.

Event includes food, crafts, rummage sale

The LeFemmes Cabane 510 will hold a chili/hot dog/club crafts and rummage sale on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 1600 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, at the Madison County Voiture 40/8 main building.

Signs will be posted at the entrance on Rangeline Road. The event is open to the public.
