Markleville East welcomes pastor
The Markleville East Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) would like to invite the community Sunday to welcome Pastor Mike Srbljan to the church family. The 10:30 a.m. service is his sermon titled “Blest Be The Tie,” and the theme will be sharing our stories for future generations, scripture reading will be taken from Psalms 78:1-4 and 12-16 (NRSV). There will be special music provided by Daniel Troup from the Christian Center, Anderson.

Ministers Quartet in concert Sunday
The Huntsville/Good Shepherd Church, 3126 W. Market St., will present The Ministers Quartet during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service. The public is invited to attend. The pastor is Rev. Claude Creel.
Missionaries speak at Cent. Wesleyan
Central Wesleyan Church will be holding its annual Missions Weekend Saturday and Sunday. Special speakers are career missionaries Tom and Lydia Hines, currently under appointment with The Wesleyan Church to Ecuador.
There will be a dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bateman Community Center. Tom and Lydia will also be speaking at both services on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The church is located at 24th and Delaware streets. Rev. Ken Sandefur is the pastor. The public is invited.
Apologetix at Aletheia Oct. 10
Apologetix will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Aletheia Fellowship, 2505 Faith Drive, Anderson.

Contemporary service on Sunday
The Chesterfield Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 207 E. Plum St., will offer a more complete contemporary service than usual this Sunday with the theme built on one of Paul’s letters to the church at Philippi using the text Philippians 2:1-13. The Praise Band will be featured on all music and includes Aaron and Courtney Bettner, guitarists; Martha McNeil, pianist; and Mark Maynard, percussionist. Lisa Benefiel will serve as song leader.
Also: the Annual Coats for Children giveaway will be Saturday, Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. until all coats have been distributed. Donations of gently used or new coats may be brought to the church between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. However, persons may contact the church office at (765) 378-7896 to make other arrangements.
Annual Lay Day service Sunday
The Lay Organization of Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1610 Sheridan St., will hold its annual Lay Day service on Sunday at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Edward E. Foggs. Refreshments will be furnished after the service. For more information, call (765) 642-3328.
Outdoor concert set for Saturday
There will be a free outdoor concert at Morning Star Church, 2867 N. 200E, in Anderson beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be a showing of a DVD about miracles of God at 4:30 p.m. inside the church, and then a second concert at the outdoor stage at 7:30 p.m. Guests are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and a sack dinner.
Kaiser to speak at AU’s Miller Chapel
Dr. Walter Kaiser, Jr., president emeritus and Colman M. Mockler distinguished professor of Old Testament, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, will be speaking in Miller Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday for the School of Theology Chapel. Jean and Sidney Johnson will be present as chaplains-in-residence.
‘Old-time religion’ planned for Sunday
An 1805 church service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Mounds State Park. The theme will be “Which Way Did They Go?” and is part of Mounds Pioneer Harvest Weekend. Admission to the park is $5 per car ($7 out-of-state vehicles).
Unity message planned for service
New Life Apostolic Church will present unity of the churches in Anderson on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome, and refreshments will be served immediately following service. The choir and congregation will also be featured.

Church Upon the Rock Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its Men’s Day at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Pastor Marcus Cooley of Rhema Word Ministry. The public is invited.
New Faith to hold Fall Fest on Sunday
Fall Fest will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Faith Fellowship, 110 W. Central Way, Pendleton. Evangelist Randy Stokes from Plainfield will be preaching. Elwood church to mark 19th year
Elwood Bible Baptist Church, 504 N. 12th St., will be celebrating its 19th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 5. The services will be at 10 and 11 a.m. and at 6 p.m. The speaker in all services will be Rev. David Barker, with Scripture Memory Ministries. Rev. Barker has worked in the prison system for many years and will have available his new book, “Behind the Prison Walls.” The public is invited to all services. Southdale church planning revival
Revival services will be held Oct. 5-8 at Southdale Church of the Nazarene, 530 W. 53rd St. Schedule is 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Evangelist is Dr. Gary Haines, a renowned nightclub singer and entertainer in Detroit’s top clubs and elsewhere in the Midwest. He gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ in 1972 after 14 years as a professional entertainer. He now uses his voice to sing and speak the Good News of God’s Salvation.
Gary and his wife, Marti, reside in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Living Word hosting fall festival
Living Word Worship Center located at 6865 S. 100W (Madison Avenue) is having a fall festival starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Service will begin with worship and continue through the afternoon for a full day of fellowship, food and fun.
There will be live music courtesy of the Christian Cavaliers, and games for the children and adults as well.
There will also be food: a hog roast with all the side dishes from the church congregation.
The public is welcome, and there is no cost.
Bethesda marking 35th homecoming
Bethesda Temple, 315 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., will hold its 35 homecoming celebration for its pastor, Bishop Robert White and wife, Freddie, from Tuesday through Oct. 5. The theme will be “By all means, let’s gain some” (1 Cor. 9:19-23). Services begin at 7 p.m. nightly. Speakers are as follows:
