Active, retired employees to meet
National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 36 will meet at noon Thursday at Perkins Restaurant, 5033 S. Scatterfield Road, Anderson. The speaker will be Shanmarie Unverzagt of Anthem Blue Cross.
All active and retired federal employees are welcome.
School rummage Thursday, Friday
The Associates of Anderson Christian School will have its biannual rummage, craft and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the school, 2625 Lindberg Road, Anderson. The Associates are a group of Christian women who donate their time to promote Christian education.
A large selection of clothing for all ages, including a large selection of baby clothes, shoes, a water bed, household goods, books and toys will be offered. All the items are donated. Baked goods and crafts will also be sold.
Longaberger Bingo set for Thursday
East Elementary, 893 E. U.S. 36, Pendleton, will host its third annual Longaberger Bingo night on Thursday. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.
Advance tickets are on sale for $15 at the school office, or may be purchased the night of the event at the door for $20. Senior (over 65) tickets are $12 in advance and $17 at the door.
Concessions will be available throughout the night. All proceeds from Longaberger Bingo are earmarked for the teachers and students of East Elementary School.
This event is for those 18 and over.

Knights hosting fish fry on Friday
The Knights of Columbus, 1225 Main St., Anderson, is hosting a fish fry on Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. to help support Gibault.
Gibault is a place for troubled children in the state, children that do not have anyone to turn to or anywhere to go.

Fall leaf pickup under way in Anderson
Fall foliage will soon be at its peak in Anderson, and not long after, leaves will accumulate on the lawns, sidewalks and streets of the city. Residents can dispose of the leaves they rake through Best Way Disposal, as outlined below:
n Residents may dispose of leaves, grass clippings, weeds, bushes and branches under 3 inches in diameter. Branches must be bundled and tied in lengths not over 4 feet long.
n Leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags (available from local home improvement stores), in their own waste receptacle, or in the Best Way trash bins, placed curbside with the lid left open.
n Leaves will be picked up the day after regular trash collection, beginning at 5 a.m.
n Leaf pickup will continue until Dec. 15.

Trick or treat at Davis Park
Anderson First United Methodist Church will host Trick and Treat at the Park on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. at Davis Park, Indiana 32.
Activities will include hay rides, games and treats.
Breakfast burritos fundraiser is set
A breakfast burrito fundraiser for the Committee to Vote No to Referendum 1 will be held from 6 to 10 a.m. Friday at Democrat Headquarters, 18 W. Eighth St., Anderson.
The menu includes breakfast burritos, shredded hash brown potatoes, fresh fruit cup, coffee or orange juice.
Cost is $5.

Dinner planned for unity volunteers
A Community Unity Appreciation Dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Life Center in Lapel for anyone who participated in any way toward the success of the Community Unity event in July.
Hot dogs and beverages will be provided. Bring side dishes and/or desserts to share. Lawn chairs are also recommended.
This will be an evening of sharing and “rekindling” of the community spirit enjoyed in July, organizers said in a press release.
