Church hosts dinner Friday
ANDERSON — The Pastor’s Aide of the Church Upon the Rock, 303 E. 29th St., will serve a chicken wing and fish dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
Cost is $7 and will include two side dishes and dessert. Sodas can be purchased for 50 cents. Deliveries offered by calling 617-7603.
Book sale Saturday in New Castle
NEW CASTLE — Friends of the Library will host a book and used computer sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The sale will take place at New Castle-Henry County Public Library in the Friends Book Sale Room and in the storage area of the library’s basement. The friends have a large quantity of non-fiction and children’s books.
Culver’s helps with cancer fundraiser
ANDERSON — Culver’s Restaurant will join forces with the St. Vincent’s Foundation today through Saturday.
Ten percent of all sales will go toward the Weekend to End Cancer. The group is raising money for the underserved population unable to pay for medical expenses related to breast, ovarian and uterine cancer.
Present this article to Culver’s anytime through Saturday and 10 percent of all sales will go toward the fundraising goal.
Motorcycle ride set for Sept. 11
ANDERSON — A motorcycle ride to benefit a children’s Christmas fund will be Sept. 11. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. at the Third Base Tavern, 229 E. 13th St., with first bike out at 11 a.m. Stops will include Curve Inn, Bernies, Woody’s, Donnie’s and Big Baby’s.
Entry fee is $25 per bike and all profits go to the children. A free cookout is included at the ride’s end for participants. Rain date is Sept. 18.

Registration for ‘Dracula Rock Show’
ANDERSON — Kidz Take the Stage is taking extended registration for “The Dracula Rock Show” for ages 8 to 18. Call 602-4774 or e-mail kidzstage@aol.com by Saturday to set up a time for casting. The cost is $100 plus 18 tickets to sell. There is also a $16 off coupon available at the studio located at Mounds Mall Anderson across from the radio station.
The Twilight performs at library
NEW CASTLE — Area family band The Twilight will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at the New Castle-Henry County Public Library. The band has been singing and playing music together since 2007. They have played on the streets of Nashville, the Country Music Festival in Nashville and Tootsies.
The group performs the “new, old and odd” from country to pop.
Pie, ice cream social Saturday
ATLANTA — The 22nd annual pie and ice cream social will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Atlanta. Serving starts at 6 p.m. with 12 kinds of pie.
An old-fashioned street dance begins at 7 p.m. with the Atlanta Music Hall Band providing sounds of big bands, Dixieland, blues and jazz. Please bring lawn chairs.
This event benefits the Atlanta Volunteer Fire Department.
