Santa arrives at Mounds this week

ANDERSON — Santa Claus will arrive at Mounds Mall, riding in a city-provided trolley, at 6 p.m. Saturday. He’ll show up at the east entrance near Garfield’s restaurant.

Santa will kick-off the holiday shopping season by illuminating a light display.

Visits and pictures with Santa will be available Nov. 27 to Dec. 24 at varying hours. Photo pet nights with Santa are set for Dec. 8 and 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Dogs and cats must be on a leash or in a carrier.

Breakfast with Santa will be at Maxine’s in the food court from 10 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 5. The cost is $1 for a drink and donut.

Kids can go to a free showing of The Tale of Despereaux” at 10 a.m. Dec. 12 at Mounds Mall 10 Theatre.

The mall be closed for Thanksgiving on Nov. 26, although Mounds Mall 10 Theatre will be open for movies.



Gifted student forum Tuesday at Highland

ANDERSON — Highland High School will host a presentation on challenges that gifted children may face. The program is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The presentation from Ball State University education experts, will describe the social and emotional issues that gifted children may face as a byproduct of their high abilities.



Christmas parade set for Dec. 12

MIDDLETOWN — Middletown’s annual Christmas parade will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. The “Peace on Earth” parade will originate at the East Locust Street entrance to Dietrich Park and proceed west along Locust Street past Gazebo Park and the Municipal Building to 8th Street.

Santa Claus will arrive at the end of the parade and will be at the gazebo. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served and there will be an opportunity to have photos taken with Santa.



Harvest Fest lunch on Friday

ANDERSON — Trinity Episcopal Church, 1030 Delaware St., will serve a Harvest Fest lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The cost is $7 and there will be craft bazaar until 5 p.m.



‘The Color Purple’ premiering in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — Tickets are on sale for “The Color Purple,” which will have a limited run from Dec. 29 to Jan 3 at Clowes Memorial Hall.

Tickets may be purchased from an authorized ticket agent online at BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com, by phone at 1-800-982-2787 or in person at Clowes Memorial Hall, The Murat Theatre and the Broadway Across America Box Office. Prices range from $20 to $70.
