Historical Society to honor Chambers

ANDERSON — Suzetta “Suzy” Chambers, a 10-year member of the Madison County Historical Society, is this year’s recipient of the Elwood Phillips Award. She will receive it at a banquet at 7 p.m. Monday at CrownPointe Senior Living Community on East Second Street.

The award is given by this all-volunteer organization to someone who has devoted long hours in the furtherance of MCHS goals.

Her special interest is the history of the township schools.

She has created four large scrapbooks of print and pictorial information about them, as well as two about Anderson High School. Chambers graduated from Madison Heights High School.

She is a longtime member of Daughters of the American Revolution (Kikthawenund Chapter), Daughters of the American Colonists (Woodlands Chapter, Elwood) and Madison Heights High School Historical Society.

She is a member of the Springport Christian Church.

She and her husband, Fritz, have two sons, one in Indianapolis and one in Orlando, Fla.

Park to host Winter Break Camp

ANDERSON — Parents whose kids need something to do over winter break should know about a camp being planned for late December.

Mounds State Park is offering its first-ever Winter Break Camp for kids 7-11.

This three-day camp is filled with outdoor and indoor winter-themed activities, including educational games, exploration hikes and nature crafts.

Each camper should dress for the weather and bring a sack lunch everyday (park provides snacks and drinks.) The camp cost is $30 per kid, and advance registration is required.

Activities are planned for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

CrownPointe sets Christmas bazaar

ANDERSON — CrownPointe Communities, 2727 CrownPointe Circle, plans a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. Set-up time will be 7:30 a.m.

The event is free to all vendors, but tables are not furnished. For more information, call Debbie or Jenny at 641-9995.
