Pendleton Legion celebrates reopening

PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, Indiana 38 W., will have a reopening at 11 a.m. Friday. Don Zalokar is the new club manager.

Upcoming events will include Football Sunday beginning at noon Sunday to watch the Colts play with food and drink specials. From 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. the band Acoustic Allusion will be performing and launching its newly released CD titled “Down at the River.”



Beef & Boards rolls out Christmas show

INDIANAPOLIS — Tickets are available for “A Beef & Boards Christmas 2009,” the original celebration of songs, stories and dancing that opens Friday at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, 9301 N. Michigan Road.

The show runs through Dec. 31. Tickets range from $34 to $57; however, tickets for New Year’s Eve range from $72 to $92. Tickets include the holiday dinner buffet with carved turkey and all the trimmings.

Service set for World AIDS Day

ANDERSON — The World AIDS Day Community Prayer Service will be held at noon Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church annex at East 11th and Fletcher streets.

The theme will be “Universal Access to Health Care as a Human Right” with presenter Clark Butler, professor of philosophy and director of the Human Rights Institute at Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne.

The service is open to the public. A section of the National AIDS Quilt will be on display. Also on display, a section of a quilt honoring Gary Manifold and James Toloday. For information, call 644-8467.



Beef noodles dinner to benefit students

LAPEL — The Lapel High School “Students to England 2010” group will sponsor a beef noodles meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. The meal will be served in the school’s commons area.

Mashed potatoes, green beans, roll and a drink are included. Desserts will be available for $1.50. Adult ticket prices are $6 and student ticket price is $3.

Profits help students pay for their trip to Europe in the fall of 2010.



Lapel American Legion serves dinner

LAPEL — Lapel American Legion Post 212 will serve a deep fried pork loin dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The all-you-can-eat meal is $7.



Hospital auxiliary to host candy sale

ANDERSON — Community Hospital Anderson’s Auxiliary will host a Good’s Candy sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, in the hospital’s cafeteria. The sale is open to the public and benefits the many charitable sponsorships of the auxiliary. For more information, call 298-5100.



Holiday cookies to be sold Dec. 4

ANDERSON — Cookies made by “local celebrities” will be sold 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in the lobby of the Union Building, 11th and Meridian streets. Children can decorate cookies between 4 and 6 p.m.

The annual Holiday Celebrity Cookie Walk is sponsored by Soroptimist International of Anderson, which uses the proceeds for scholarships and programs benefiting women and girls.
