ANDERSON, Ind. — Tuesday was Highland High School's last day for being a high school. Seniors picked up their diplomas, as underclassmen relaxed most of the day, and faculty cleaned out their rooms in preparation for the building's conversion to becoming a middle school.

On Wednesday, Lapel High School marked the beginning of the school year with a slate of special events. Students and teachers competed against each other in games of skill, a fashion show told sutdents what to wear and what not to wear, and the day concluded with a communal singalong.
